HOW WE
CO:DESIGNED

Methods
  • Compiled a targeted list of retail buyers in New York who may have interest in Japanese products. This process involved visiting stores and conducting brief interviews to gather insights on their product preferences, sourcing methods, preferred platforms, and contact information.

  • Extended invitations to these buyers to participate in online business meetings with Japanese companies and to attend the NYNOW exhibition.

  • Provided comprehensive feedback on 50 Japanese products, assessing them from business, design, and marketing/communication perspectives.

ABOUT

The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) is a government-affiliated entity dedicated to promoting mutual trade and investment between Japan and countries worldwide. Established in 1958 to boost Japanese exports, JETRO’s mission has evolved in the 21st century to focus on attracting foreign direct investment into Japan and supporting small to medium-sized Japanese enterprises in expanding their global export capabilities.

On November 4th, 2024, JETRO San Francisco launched the “Japanese Lifestyle Showcase in SF: Craft & Essentials from Japan.” This showroom featured a curated selection of Japanese kitchenware, interior lifestyle goods, and stationery/office supplies. From over 300 items, carefully chosen products such as kitchen knives, incense, crayons, cups, chopsticks, and other innovative items—including those debuting in the U.S. market—were showcased.

Our company collaborated with JETRO to invite potential buyers in New York to explore these products via an online platform. Additionally, we provided comprehensive feedback to help Japanese companies tailor their products to better suit the US market.
